In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed "Daughter of Smoke and Bone," Karou must come to terms with who and what she is, and how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, mysteries and secrets, new characters and old favorites, Days of Blood and Starlight brings the richness, color and intensity of the first book to a brand new canvas.

My Thoughts: HOOOOLY CRAP. This cover is so creepishly beautiful! I love it way more than the first book cover. It's so haunting and wicked, I can't stand it. ;P I'm a huge fan of this series, and can't wait until this badboy comes out! <3

Series: Gone With The Respiration, #2

Description N/A

My Thoughts: I haven't read the first book in this series yet, but I heard it was really good. But, is this book even apart of the GWTR series? I mean, the titles match, but on this cover it just "author of Dearly, Departed. A novel." Shouldn't it have the sequel to...? I don't know, I'm confused there. Though, I don't think this cover and the first cover really goes well together, but I do like the lace-like corners on this one. (Forgive me if it's not lace!)

Expected Publication: November, 2012
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Format: eBook
Genre: YA Mythology, Romance
Series: Covenant, 3.5
Pre-Order: N/A

 Aiden's novella
Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

My Thoughts: I don't really know what to say for this one. I do know that I'm hellbent on getting Jennifer's books. I heard they were spectacular. Well, at least the first book in this series and in her new one. But I do like this cover, just for the water-y flower. I don't know much about this series, other than it's about Greek mytho, and I don't know why I haven't gotten this eariler. D:

Waiting On Wednesday (#20)

~
This week, my pre-publication selection is:

Expected Publication: August 7th 2012
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA Children's
Format: Hardcover, 416 pages
Genre: YA Fantasy, Romance
Pre-Order: Barnes and Noble | Amazon

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men—thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the kings council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

My Thoughts: I'm waiting for this book very impatiently... NetGalley seems to refuse to let me have it, it just keeps saying "new," so I don't know what's going on. :/ But I reeeeally want this book. It sounds so cool and adventurous. I'd love to have a book like that, set back in those times. I don't think I've read a book like that...yet.

In My Mailbox (#18)

~

I didn't get hardly anything in the past couple of weeks, and I'm very sad because of that. That's probably why I've been absent on here and Goodreads for so long. So I'm sorry! Hopefully things will pick back up soon. Just bare with me. <3

Pegasus: The Flame of Olympus by Kate O'Hearn - Bought at Walmart

Storm by Brigid Kemmerer
Brigid actually sent this to me, and personalized it. :) She's such a sweet lady! I tend to write a review for this when I'm done! <3
It says, "Whitney, Enjoy the storm!" :)

I know this IMM sucked real bad, but I hope things will improve soon!

{Cover Reveals} A few new ones!

This post is to make up for my short absence from here. Sorry, guys! Been a bit busy. :c

The Mephisto Kiss (The Mephisto Covenant, #2)
by Trinity Faegen
Expected Publication: September 25th 2012
Publisher: EgmontUSA
Format: Hardcover, 448 pages

The eyes never lie. No one’s eyes are darker than Eryx. Not even the Devil’s.

What they don’t know is that Eryx plans to kidnap Jordan and force President Ellis to pledge his soul. If Eryx’s plot succeeds, the consequences would be catastrophic.
But the Mephisto brothers do know about Jordan’s secret identity. And for one of them, she could be the match that leads to their soul’s salvation.
Now it’s a desperate race against time to save Jordan and prevent Eryx’s haunting eyes from discovering her true identity.
A thrilling story of romance, danger, and intrigue, THE MEPHISTO KISS continues the marvelous mythology that began in THE MEPHISTO COVENANT.

My Thoughts: To be honest, I think this cover is too plain and simple from the first cover. But it fits, so I guess it's okay. That's all I really got to say on this one. :/

Expected Publication: August 28th 2012
Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers
Format: Hardcover, 304 pages

Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.

Every morning, A wakes in a different person’s body, a different person’s life. There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.

It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.

With his new novel, David Levithan has pushed himself to new creative heights. He has written a captivating story that will fascinate readers as they begin to comprehend the complexities of life and love in A’s world, as A and Rhiannon seek to discover if you can truly love someone who is destined to change every day.

My Thoughts: This is actually a pretty neat cover. It definitely draws me in, and I totally want this book. Whoever did this cover, totally nailed the contrast and saturation. It looks hella cool. :)

Expected Publication: September 4th 2012
Publisher: HarperCollins
Format: Hardcover, 320 pages

In a city of daimons, the Carnival of Souls hosts a deadly competition. Once in a generation, every citizen can fight to join the ruling elite. Without the competition, Aya and Kaleb would both face bleak futures—if for different reasons. For each of them, fighting to the death is the only way to try to live.

In our own world, Mallory knows that her father—and every other witch—fled the daimons’ city long ago. She trains to be lethal because it’s only a matter of time until the daimons catch up with them.

While Mallory possesses little knowledge of The City, every inhabitant of The City knows of her. There are plans there for Mallory, and soon she, too, will be drawn into the decadence that is the Carnival of Souls.

From Melissa Marr, bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely series, comes a brand-new tale of secrets, love, and the struggle to forge one’s own destiny.

My Thoughts: Holyshitholyshitholyshittt. I LOVE this cover so much. I haven't read any of Marrs' books, but I do have the first book in the Wicked Lovely series on my iPad. And from looking at all of her covers, I reeeeally want to read them all. Especially this one. It sounds epic, and looks it too!

{Cover Reveal} STORMDANCER by Jay Kristoff

A DYING LAND
The Shima Imperium verges on the brink of environmental collapse; decimated by clockwork industrialization and the machine-worshipers of the Lotus Guild. The skies are red as blood, land choked with toxic pollution, wildlife ravaged by mass extinctions.

AN IMPOSSIBLE QUEST
The hunters of Shima's imperial court are charged by their Shōgun to capture a thunder tiger — a legendary beast, half-eagle, half-tiger. But any fool knows thunder tigers have been extinct for more than a century, and the price of failing the Shōgun is death.

A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL
Yukiko is a child of the Fox clan, possessed of a hidden gift that would see her executed by the Lotus Guild. Accompanying her father on the Shōgun’s hunt, she finds herself stranded: a young woman alone in Shima’s last wilderness, with only a furious, crippled thunder tiger for company. Even though she can hear his thoughts, even though she saved his life, all she knows for certain is he’d rather see her dead than help her.

But together, the pair will form an indomitable friendship, and rise to challenge the might of an empire.

My Thoughts: I love this cover way better than the UK one. I love the black/gray and red feel to it, especially with her tattoo. That just slaps you in the face with badass. I cannot wait until this book releases in the US. <3

{Book Review} CINDER by Marissa Meyer

Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
Publication Date: January 3, 2012
Format: Hardback, 400pp
Age Range: 12 - 17 Years
Genre: YA Dystopian

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, the ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

MY EMOTIONS. THERE THEY WENT. SCATTERED EVERYWHERE.

This book totally made the top few on my list that made me want to actually kill someone myself. Brutally. And mercilessly. ._. Instead of having to go through the pity I felt for the main character, whilst thinking, I would totally give that person a good hard jab in the vagina. Anyway, that's just me, focusing on two characters in particular that I fucking despised. Onto the actual review. xD

I reeeally loved this book, it was an awesome retelling of Cinderella. Very different, but very awesome. :3 A cyborg Cinderella is just freaking brilliant. If the cover and title were different, I actually wouldn't have thought this was based on Cinderella, especially with the New Beijing setting. But I think that I'd catch on sooner or later by the end of the book. Though it would take some serious thinking, with the Lunars and whatnot. xD

The world was so unique and original and compelling, it was hard to think that a world like that could come to life in someone's head. But it did with me, and it was vivid. <3 I could picture the setting perfectly. Marissa totally nailed it on the head with "world-building" skills. True dat. It had a lot of history to go with it too, since it's set in "New Beijing." The original Beijing was destroyed in World War IV. I thought that was pretty cool. c: And to go along with the history, the scene were Cinder had found the old car in the junkyard was darn neat. Since she's used to hovers and this is set in the dystopian future, she has never seen cars like there are nowadays.

The character building in this was fantastic as well. They were well developed and just wonderful. Cinder has to be one of my favorite heroines. She's tough, brave, and determined. I loved everything about her, and her being a mechanic just added to it But I'm glad there wasn't a fairy in this--to help her with the ball. She got stuff done herself without complaint. And can I just say that Iko, Cinder's android, was just cute? :3 Prince Kai was a very nice hero, as well. I didn't have a problem with him at all until the very last few pages. (Though I don't know if it was fake or not. I assumed it was. Hoping, rather.) I don't want to say that I swooned or got excited every time he came around in the book, but I was interested in what he was doing. I liked him, and I wanted him and Cinder to have more "alone" parts than there was. Because I feel like they both deserve it, Cinder more than him.

The two characters I was talking about earlier was Cinder's stepmother--Adri--and stepsister--Pearl. Adri was unbelievably harsh and mean to Cinder, I almost couldn't stand it. I wanted Cinder to tell her off or do something, but I guess she was bidding her time. Or maybe I'm just a violet person. xD I would've punched or slapped her. And do worse to that bitch Pearl. >_> I was alright with Peony, the other stepsister. Because she actually loved Cinder, and was nice to her. Queen Levana just needs to go, as well with Sybil and Torin. I don't like them lol. At all.

The Lunars are different. Very different. I loved it. c: There always has to be an enemy right? xD Well that's were the Lunars come in with this retelling. And the fact that they live on the moon, is just down right awesome. The whole Lunars idea was brilliant and instant-mind-grabbing for me!

The ending for this book totally left me hanging and mouth watering for more. D: I was definitely surprised when Cinder found out about her past. I didn't see that coming at all. Also the way Kai treated her when he found out about her...situation...ruined me. v_v I thought he'd be more understanding and all. But it makes sense (only if he was fooling her.) The surprises just kept coming in this one!

I'm glad I didn't rush into this book as I normally would have. I took time in it, and enjoyed it very much. I can't freaking wait until the next books. Which I am hella excited for. I read the Goodreads synopsis' for them, and those will be something to look forward too. Especially the last one. ;) I have a feeling all of them will be filled with epicness!

Outpost (Razorland #2)
by Ann Aguirre
Expected Publication: September 4th 2012 by Feiwel & Friends
Hardcover, 336 pages

Deuce’s whole world has changed. Now living topside in a community called Salvation, she has a whole new set of problems. Down below, she was considered an adult, and she contributed to the whole. Now, topside, the people of Salvation think she’s a brat in need of training. She hates school, and she doesn’t fit in with the other girls. They’ve spent their lives learning to cook and sew–suitable woman’s work. Deuce only knows how to fight. To make matters worse, Fade keeps her at a distance, and the band of four has broken into fragments.

Stalker presses for a closer relationship, but Deuce sees him as a training partner, and she’s busy trying to find her place in Salvation. She refuses to accept that she’s wrong for being who she is, but tensions rise as she struggles against the status quo. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.

Once she’s free from school for the year, Deuce pursues a chance to serve in the summer patrols–those responsible for making sure the growers and planters can work the fields without danger of Freak attack. It should have been routine, little fighting, but things have been changing on surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks are smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it will take a girl like Deuce to turn the tide.

My Thoughts: I reeeeeeally love the covers in this series (even though there's only two books including this one.) I love the old, rusted, out in the woods feeling. The cover definitely had my attention, and even more so with the gloved hand. I seriously need the first book in the series!

Expected Publication: September 2012 by Prometheus

Description N/A

My Thoughts: I really like this cover. Each cover in this series has it's own little theme, and this looks like it's fiery and stuff. If that made sense. ;P But I love that there's whole models on this, as in their entire bodies. It makes the book more persuasive. :) I have the first book in this series, and I need the next two.

The heat is on, and a new threat to humanity has risen…

Nick has his driver’s license and he’s not afraid to use it. But turning sixteen isn’t what he thought it would be. While other boys his age are worried about prom dates and applying for college, Nick is neck deep in enemies out to stop him from living another day. No longer sure if he can trust anyone, his only ally seems to be the one person he’s been told will ultimately kill him.

But life spent serving the undead is anything except ordinary. And those out to get him have summoned an ancient force so powerful even the gods fear it. As Nick learns to command and control the elements, the one he must master in order to combat his latest foe is the one most likely to destroy him. As the old proverb goes, fire knows nothing of mercy, and if Nick is to survive this latest round, he will have to sacrifice a part of himself. However, the best sacrifice is seldom the sanest move. Sometimes it’s the one that leaves your enemies confused, and you even more so.

And sometimes, you have to trust your enemy to save your friends. But what do you do when that enemy is you?

My Thoughts: I like this cover out of the four in this series so far. For obvious reasons, this shows almost his whole body, whereas the other three just showed him waist up. I have the first book in this series, which I actually started it but didn't finish it due to too many books. ;P But I plan to read it sometime!

CITY OF LOST SOULS Snippets!

Cassandra Clare has been posting little teasers/snippets on her Tumblr in the past few days, since the release date for her latest installment in The Mortal Insturments series, City of Lost Souls, is nearing! (Almost can't freakin' contain my excitement for that book. I WILL LOSE ITTT.)

Here's the past two that she posted. :)

Sebastian looked at Jocelyn, his black eyes quiet and narrow. “If you were really a real mother,” he said, “a good mother, you would have known I was alive. There was a man once who said that mothers carry the key of our souls with them all our lives. But you threw mine away.”

Dim light spilled through the windows, and a faint red glow from the smoke alarm over the closet. Clary was lying on her side, under a heap of blankets, and her back was deliciously warm. An arm was draped along her side. For a moment, in the half-conscious dizzy space between waking and sleeping, she wondered if Simon had crawled in the window while she slept, and laid down beside her, the way they used to sleep in the same bed together when they were children.
But Simon had no body heat...

My Thoughts: You know, I thought I saw this cover on NetGalley when this book was first up for requesting. I know I did, and yet they took it down. Weird. But I'm so siked to read this!! I requested for it on NG, and there's still no answer. (This was almost two months ago. :/) But I'm still hoping! I love the girl on the cover, she looks sweet and innocent yet deadly with that knife strapped to her bicep. ;P On NG, it said that this was a YA girl version of Game of Thrones. And that was the first thing that had be hooked to get it! This book sounds awesome and epic. I NEED THIS.
